Freedom: A Journey in Three Parts

Sweaty palms. Heart beating- not racing, not quite, but still an unsteady quickening thump, thump, thump.

“You like that? Wow. You’re so weird.”

Yes, she knows- no, she should have known. Stupid. Just being silly.

“Okay. S-sorry. I’ll stop.”


She tries to push it, just a little. “B-but maybe-”

“Maybe nothing. God, listen to yourself, for once. Jesus.”

“Oh. Um- oh. I…”

She leaves without another word. But still, there’s a fire in her belly.


“You’re wrong.”

“Excuse me?”

“You heard me. You’re wrong. I don’t care what you think.”


“…You’ve changed.”

“I know. I like it.”
