The Wednesday Briefing

Freshers’ Week so far:

The week has only just begun, but there’s already been a huge variety of cool stuff going on at the Queen Margaret Union! On Friday there was Thank God It’s Freshers’ (TGIF), followed by the infamous White T-Shirt Party on Saturday night, which hopefully helped you make some new pals – although you probably ended up just drawing weird shit on other people’s t-shirts, right? Sunday was more relaxed, giving you a chance to have a more chill evening with Cocktails and Karaoke in Jim’s Bar.

Monday saw the main Freshers’ Week events kick off with loads of amazing live music. Vistas began the night with some indie rock tunes, followed by Scottish four-piece The Van T’s, providing some heavy grunge vibes before the main event – local indie legends PRIDES! A DJ set from The LaFontaines finished off the night. Don’t forget that you’ll need a Freshers’ Wristband to get into all the big evening events Monday – Friday!

Our Freshers’ Helpers have been working super hard to raise money for the Scottish Refugee Council! You may have seen them running around in red t-shirts at our events selling glow sticks, glitter and face paint, and they’ll be doing this every night of the week! So far they have raised just under £500, but there’s still plenty of time to help them raise even more!

On Tuesday, DJ masterminds Junktape took over QUDOS, remixing your fave chart hits from across all genres and eras, combined with super cool visuals and even a live drum set thrown into the mix!

What’s next?

We hope you’re not too exhausted after the first weekend, because there’s still plenty to come! Tonight sees Peppermint from RuPaul’s Drag Race Fame take to the stage of Qudos, followed by a DJ set from Mother Tucker!
