Meet the Teem: Jeehan Ashercook

Jeehan, 3rd year English Literature, Creative Writing Editor

Who are you?

Hello! I’m Jeehan.

What is you role on the team? What do you do?

I am the Creative Writing Editor. I read the creative writing submissions – poems, prose, and so on – and offer my comments and opinions on what to keep, tweak, or delete.

What is your favourite thing about Glasgow?

I like big cities and Glasgow is big in many things. But most importantly, I like that Glaswegians have big hearts for a big city.

How did you get involved with [qmunicate]?

I just attended meetings and volunteered to write the articles with topics I found personally interested so I could put in all the effort they deserve.

What is your advice to someone wanting to get involved?

You’ve probably heard this umpteen times – just come along to the meetings. You never know when an article you’d fancy will come up!

What makes a good submission to the section?

Creativity or innovation, whether that be in form or plot. Think of your read – we don’t want déjà vu, we want thrills and chills!

If you could interview any writer, who would it be?

This is a tough question to narrow down to a single writer, but i’d like to interview William Shakespeare (or his ghost!) I’d like to see his response to his present-day status as a prodigy in English Literature. Besides, who is he really? Did he write all those plays – if not, were the insults still his? What does he think about the theories out there? We need answers, William.
