Is it just us or did anyone else lose their voice belting their heart out at Cocktails and Karaoke?! Either way, Monday is where the freshers’ fun begins – or continues for those who’ve been around all weekend – and we’re just as buzzing as you.
Our zine launches today! Keep an eye out around the building and campus for our guide to freshers’ week and beyond. A big shoutout especially to our Photo and Illustration Editor, Isabelle, for making it all look so beautiful! Another shoutout to our Online Editor, Eleanor, for making sure our website is always up to date with freshers’ content throughout the day. The QMU 2018/19 Handbook will also be available soon, which is your year-long Bible to all things QMU for the year ahead.
We’ll be up early for the Freshers’ Address – a cross-campus event held at 12pm in the Bute Hall. Come along and hear speeches from important figures on campus, including QMU President, Mata. You’ll also see – or definitely hear – a team of QMU Freshers’ Helpers from the balconies of the hall. You’ll have to be there to see what we mean!
Don’t miss out on building tours taking place throughout the day from 11am – a friendly helper will take you around the building, getting you acquainted with what goes on and where. Meet in the Foyer of the QMU to start your tour!
Looking to meet some new pals on campus? Head down to Food Factory for Speed Mating at 12pm, or alternatively to our Pool Tournament starting at the same time in Champions Bar.
Forgot some of the boring essentials when packing for uni? Fear not, because the Really Useful Quiz is here to solve that! Battle out for some really useful prizes, from a first aid kit to a clothes horse. Don’t say we don’t look out for you!
Are you a little bit older than your typical fresher and looking to meet people in the same boat? Then our Mature Student Mixer is the event for you, where you’ll get to meet fellow mature students in a relaxed environment. Scran at 4pm.
Tonight is definitely our type on paper – the Mac Twins, as seen on Love Island, as well as Hedkandi’s Jayli, will be the soundtrack to the QMU Beach Party! Dance as if it’s not seven degrees and raining outside with a tropical playlist – this event is exclusively for Freshers’ Band holders, so get down and dance like it’s still summer!
