Bands at the QMU Tonight

Honeyblood

Pop punk/noisepop duo Honeyblood are drummer Cat Myres and guitarist and vocalist Stina Marie Claire Tweeddale, formed in Glasgow originally in early 2012. Their unique blend of indie, rock and pop caught the attention of producers in 2013 when they were signed, subsequently releasing ‘Honeyblood’ in 2014, and later, ‘Babes never die’ in 2016 where Cat Myres replaced original drummer Shona McVicar.

They’ve toured with the likes of Wolf Alice and Foo Fighters and have been likened to Dream Wife, PJ Harvey and Sonic Youth.

Lucia

Only a few releases have been needed to cement Glaswegian band Lucia into the British music scene, their unapologetic brand of ‘cool pop’ has seen them work with artists like Arctic Monkeys and Florence + The Machine.

Frontwoman Lucia Fairfull and the band were discovered busking on the streets of Glasgow, but since have toured, playing more than 54 shows over the last year and garnering prestigious slots at major UK festivals, including TRNSMT and Latitude.

Likened to The Ninth Wave and Rascalton, Lucia’s brand of modern Rock n’ Roll is brash and exciting.

Life Model

Setting the scene for the night is Glasgow based group Life Model, a dream pop band with their psychedelic, hazy sounds staying true to the shoegaze genre. They have supported the likes of Belle and Sebastian; with their 2017 EP ‘Lucky’ being discussed in the DIY Glasgow music scene. Having previously played with headline act Honeyblood at Indietracks Festival, this is one for fans of Cigarettes After Sex, Japanese Breakfast and L-Space.
