For the second official day of Freshers’ Week 2019, we have a jam-packed day planned for you. So, brush off your hangover, throw yourself into the shower, and head on down to the QMU before this fabulous week has passed us by!
If you didn’t manage to catch one of our welcome tours yesterday, then pop your head into the QMU Reception anytime today between 11am and 4pm as our helpers will be on hand once again to show you around.
Our qmunicate family will be stationed in the ground floor Cafe today, too, so please swing by to say hi! We’ll be there between 10am and 3pm to tell you all about the QMU’s award-winning publication, answer any questions you may have, and tell you how you can get involved yourself. We’d love to meet as many new faces as possible, so hopefully we see a lot of you there!
We have a lot of other great events planned throughout today, as well. Elephant in the Room, the QMU’s own mental health campaign, are running a creative session in the Bar between 12 and 3pm. ‘Paint Along with Bob Ross’ will be a great opportunity to find out more about the committee behind Elephant in the Room whilst also exercising your creative muscles at the same time. Meanwhile, at 2pm our Really Useful Quiz will be starting in Venue on the ground floor. This is the place to be if you love a good pub quiz and are interested in winning some Really Useful Prizes at the end!
Whilst the Really Useful Quiz is going on, we’ll also be running a Language Cafe upstairs in Meeting Room 2 between 2 and 5pm. This is a place where the language students and international students among us can gather together to practice and exchange languages. It will be a very relaxed setting, so if you’ve ever fancied learning another language, don’t hesitate to drop in. If this doesn’t sound like your kind of thing, however, make sure you stop into Games between 3 and 6pm instead as we’ll be holding a screening on the classic Scottish sitcom, Still Game!
Finally, for the main evening of the night, Massaoke Scotland will be back on the QMU stage and better than ever. Starting at 10pm in Venue, this karaoke phenomenon will take to the stage for their ABBA vs Queen face off! With a full live band on stage playing the music, and the lyrics projected onto a big screen above, you and your new pals can sing your hearts out to these two iconic bands.
