Thursday has come around so quickly, it only feels like last night we were dancing the night away at the White T-Shirt Party! Thanks to all who came to the workshop yesterday, it was great to meet everyone and I hope to see you at our meeting next Wednesday.
The plant sale continues all day today, so make sure you head down nice and early for the best choice in plants. If you miss it, don’t worry, as the final day is tomorrow. For some light exercise, Morning Yoga in Venue from 10am is a perfect way to refresh and de-stress from the hectic freshers’ week.
If board games are more your thing, head on down to Games between midday and 6pm. Bond with new flatmates or meet new people, regardless it’s guaranteed to be a great time. Alternatively, Pads and Pints is running in Bar between 1pm and 4pm. This activity is aimed to destigmatise menstrual health by screening the film Padman as well as providing lots of free and sustainable period products. If you can’t make it, don’t forget you’re able to pick up free moon cups and reusable pads, as well normal pads and tampons, from the condom booth on the ground floor every day this freshers’ week. It’s also open every Monday and Wednesday between 12-4 during term time.
Aloud is the QMU’s slam poetry night and perfect for seasoned poets and new-starts alike. Head down to Bar for their first slam of the year at 5pm; you can perform poetry you’ve written at home or just sit back and enjoy the wonderful performances as an audience member.
The main event of the night is the QMU’s famous UV paint party, so make sure you’re wearing your oldest clothes you don’t mind ruining – my advice would be the white t-shirt from Saturday! If you still have your voice despite Tuesday’s karaoke, then don’t forget to check out the GU Shrek Society hosting Shrek Karaoke in Bar as well.
